Born and raised in New England, Carol Mann has lived in California, Northern Virgina, and Raleigh, North Carolina, and moved to Chocowinity in 1999. Retirement offered an opportunity for Carol and her husband, Bill, to play golf and to pursue other long-standing interests that were on the back burner while raising their three daughters.

In planning to publish her third cookbook, Carol decided to take watercolor classes in order to provide her own illustrations. She began formal instruction in 2010 under the tutelage of Jeff Jakub. Watercolors quickly became a passion and she now enjoys painting several hours a day. Her love of florals and still life paintings is evident as you walk through her studio at the Inner Banks Artisan’s Gallery.
