Sue Beck

Sue Beck

…enjoys designing and making fine jewelry that brings her imagination back to the sea… Using silver, gold-filled, and sterling silver wire, she invents her stylish rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces, often to show off wonderful glass and gemstones.

When she moved from Long Island to Washington several years ago, she began to weave seeded beads, her fingers trying to find the creativity they yearned for. It wasn’t long before she learned to carve precious metal and clay into her own original jewelry.

Her inspiration comes from nature, most often from the sea. For 20 years, Sue has been a licensed USCG Captain, so her connection to the oceans is an intimate one. She chooses gems and minerals that mirror the colors of nature; then lets them live awhile on her workbench until she finds exactly the right form to embellish them. A teacher in local workshops, Sue loves working with students. It delights her as much as them when they suddenly see their work come to fruition before them.
