JJ Jarvah
Stained Glass Artist
Judy (JJ) Jarvah, a native of Ontario Canada, left the chilly north in 1979 for sunny Georgia, and then to the beautiful Piedmont area of North Carolina where she and her husband raised their two children. After becoming an empty nester, she finally, in 1996, took her first class in Stained Glass. She said It wasn’t the easiest art she ever tried, but she stuck with it and finally began designing panels and side lights for her friends.
Now retired and living near Washington, N.C., she is enjoying being part of the local artisan community. Continuing to be actively involved and displaying her work at the Inner Banks Artisans’ Center, has given her the opportunity to interface with artists of all different mediums.
Over the years she has designed a broad spectrum of stained glass art from sun catchers, transoms & sidelights to free hanging panels. She was published in the Gallery of Winners by CKE publications and in 2007 was awarded the “Best in Beaufort County “a (Margaret Hodges Hackney Award).
In the past she has worked with various other mediums including oils, acrylics, pen & ink, and ceramics. However, her greatest delight comes when she can team up with her customers to design and produce a “one-of-a-kind”, stained glass creation capturing their own personality.
